1 bedroom 1 bathroom condominium in the lovely Skyleaf Mountain Condos. This is a downstairs unit that can either be accessed from the main parking lot by walking down the steps or by parking around back and walking right in. This is such a cute, cozy unit and you'll immediately feel right at home here. The sofa folds out to make a queen bed, in addition to the king sized bed in the bedroom so you have accommodations for up to 4 people. This unit has a fully equipped kitchen with cookware, dishes, silverware, and appliances. NO coffee is provided, but we are now stocking units with salt and pepper, and cooking oil. There is a gas fireplace.
Skyleaf condos do not have air conditioning.

Overall a good experience. The location is pretty good for skiing on sugar. Unfortunately, the room had obviously not been cleaned since last visitors. The linen on the bed had hair from previous guests. The “King bed” is two twin pushed together. Various trash was found throughout the place. Will say, the price is solid and you get what you pay for.

The furniture and was not fancy, but certainly adequate and everything seemed quite clean. Our unit was really only accessible by going down a steep set of stairs - the unit description had said ground level entry on the other side of the building was possible, but that would only be true if the sliding door on that side was left unlocked as we were only provided a front door key. The unit had the things you would expect, but some in short supply (e.g., only 2 regular forks for a unit that sleeps 4; the hand soap dispenser in the bathroom was empty)

The management company's office was closed to the public, so check in/out done by picking up a packet or dropping off the key in a box. That worked okay, but it was not clear who could be contacted if there was a problem. The directions given from the management office to the unit were printed in one paragraph in small font - a step by step list in a larger font would have been much easier to follow.

The living room tv did a software update, after which it no longer worked. As we were not watching that much tv anyway, we just relied on the bedroom tv which continued to function.

The location was nice and the price seemed reasonable compared with what similar places in the area ask. No major complaints, but a few annoyances and nothing to make it stand out above other condos we have stayed at.

I'm sorry for your issues!! You did have at least 4 additional phone numbers provided for any needs you might have. They're in our confirmation email and in the signature to each message our office sends out, as well as the request to contact us immediately if everything isn't as you'd like it. I just answered an inquiry from a prospective guest who wanted to be certain that we offer no contact check ins due to a person with compromised immunity, so I guess preferences vary.

We've added new silverware after seeing your review, and the sliding glass door works with the same key you were given- we just keep it locked until a guest decides to open it for their own use. The "stick" or "board" in the door track s to help prevent bear entry if a door were to be left unlocked. Thanks for the heads up on the tv, by the way. Something is wrong with the screen and we hadn't known. I do hope you'll give us another chance in your future travels!

Very clean, was very warm from fire in living room when I arrived . Very simple and was a great stay!! Highly recommend

The unit was clean and the management company responded to our questions quickly. As older adults, we found it difficult to carry our suitcases down multiple steps.But the unit is one level which made movement in it easy for us.There was no hair dryer available and the coffee pot leaked.

Great place with a few flaws

Our pull our couch was broken and in the open position upon arrival. We had no comfortable place to sit. The fireplace did not work. There were no wash cloths only hand and body towels. There was only one large knife which made it difficult to peel fruit or cut anything really unless I wanted to use a giant bread knife to cut. The location was good and it was beneficial to have the bus transport to Sugar Mountain at the top of the neighborhood. Be advised if the road is frozen you will need chains on your tires. Its quite a climb up there and blind hill down when you get to the apartment.

Thanks for the feedback! The renters just before you broke the sofa bed, and I'm thinking housekeeping misunderstood our instruction. When Joan called you ahead of time to warn you about the sofa bed, you had said it would be fine for only 2 people. BUT housekeeping was supposed to leave it closed up to use as a sofa instead of out to use as a bed. Hopefully the replacement will be installed before it's a big issue, and I'm sorry for the mistake. The fireplace has been replaced within the past few months, so it is working better than ever. Not sure what the issue was there. I'll pick up some new kitchen knives immediately, and you are SO RIGHT about the chains for folks without 4x4 or AWD. I hope you'll stay with us again in the future- with a place to sit. :)

Rental property was as described and was neat and clean. I reserved through VRBO, but the staff at SML was pleasant and helpful if anything was needed. The building can be hard to locate as it switched from building numbers to letters on some of the signs. The picture indicating it was a unit downstairs helped.

Skyleaf is very cute and accommodating. It's tucked back on Sugar Mountain which is refreshing when you're looking for a relaxing,peaceful vacation. This was our second stay in the Skyleaf community and certainly won't be our last! Sugar Mountain Lodging is also very flexible and easy to work with as my work schedule can change my plans in an hours time.

Good for a few nights stay

We were visiting the area for 3 nights. It was nice to have a couch, kitchen and bedroom. Unit needs updating, flatware was iridescent, plastic chairs on patio were old, stained, and too dirty to use, needs some new glassware. Knob was off tub/shower, so it was difficult to get the correct water temperature. Skyleaf negotiated with cable company for cable/Internet but they were behind schedule so unit only had ROKU. Internet was only 2 mbps.

Hi Cindee. Thanks for the good feedback. I’m starting to think my attempts at giving a fun, boho feel to the unit aren’t working. The flatware is brand new just prior to your arrival. We also recently replaced the bed set and a few other things.

I’m glad the tub was able to be repaired the same night but am so sorry that it was broken in the first place. We’re so hoping the tv and internet situation will be remedied soon. The Roku has worked well until now but during a time of heavy usage in the community and storms adding to the trouble, I can see how it would be a struggle.

I’ll get the porch furniture cleaned up. Thanks for letting me know!

I hope you’ll give us another chance when you’re back in the mountains!

Needs some TLC - Quickly

Overall, this place did what we wanted it to do for a 2 night hiking weekend, a resting place. However, there's no way I'd stay here for an extended time. The bathroom, kitchen utensils, and pillows are very subpar. There's no reason to go into specifics, but I hope the owner and management company visit to see what's in disrepair and fix it. These items should be in better condition even for a low priced rental such as this. Thankfully the neighbors, actual residents I believe, above were quiet and slept later than us because the footsteps and sewage piping were louder than apartments I've lived in previously in my youth. Overall, this wouldn't be a bad place to stay if they just put a few hundred bucks into it and improve things a very little bit.

Thank you so much, Lionel. This is constructive criticism. After reading your suggestions, I immediately ordered new silverware, pillows and some other items. Your rental was our first after the COVID vacation rental ban was lifted- ordinarily the unit would have been spring cleaned, inventoried and touched up already but I dropped the ball and rented it without realizing it hadn't been done. I'm truly sorry your stay wasn't what you wanted and expected, and we'd love the chance to make it up to you in the future.
